Big Win At Kalispell For 4Mil and Wounded Warrior Project

Jul 17th, 2011No Comments

Joe Arnone and Team 4 Mil, all either current or former military veterans, participated in this year’s Race Across America.  Team 4 Mil outperformed all other military teams, winning the Armed Forces cup with a time of 5 days, 12 hours , and 5 minutes.  The team also finished 2nd fastest in the 8 man division.

As if this accomplishment weren’t awesome enough, Arnone and team were racing to raise awareness and money for the amazing Wounded Warrior Project, a favorite organization of ours here at the Law Firm of Richard L. Duquette.

Check out the pictures and details at the Kpax.com article.

Hincape Tells Feds Armstrong Doped?

Jun 6th, 2011No Comments

According to a report by “60 Minutes” Hincape has joined Landis, Hamilton, and Andreu in claiming that Armstrong used banned performance-enhancing drugs during his long and successful career.  Although Armstrong has never tested positive during any of his races, increasingly damaging allegations have been flying as of late.

But did Hincape really tell the Federal Grand Jury that Armstrong was doping?  The proceedings from the Grand Jury aren’t available for the public, and Hincape released the following statement through his attorney:

“I can confirm to you that I never spoke with ’60 Minutes.’ I have no idea where they got their information. As I’ve said in the past, I continue to be disappointed that people are talking about the past in cycling instead of the future. As for the substance of anything in the ’60 Minutes’ story, I cannot comment on anything relating to the ongoing investigation.”

Armstrong, on the defensive against those who have spoken against him, has launched a website questioning the credibility of Andreu, Hamilton and Landis, as well as refuting the allegations.

This saga seems far from over, unfortunately.  Stay tuned.

Chris Horner, 39, beat his RadioShack teammate Levi Leipheimer by 38 seconds to win the sixth Tour of California.  Although Horner was the oldest rider to compete in the race, his final time of 23 hours, 46 minutes  and 41 seconds was good enough to get him first place.

Matthew gross (of HTC-Highroad) won the final stage from Santa Clarita to Thousand Oaks, but the overall race went to Horner, who thinks his win is “fantastic.”

SignOnSanDiego.com has a great article on the May 4, 2011 Wounded Warriors’ bike ride. The Wounded Warriors’ ride, which stared in 2004 as a fundraiser for wounded troops, is going strong if President Obama’s participation is any indication.  Not only was Obama on hand for the start of the race, he also called the riders–many of whom were former service members missing limbs–an inspiration.

Head on over to SignOnSanDiego.com for the details and some great pictures.
