Obama Kicks Off Wounded Warriors’ Ride
SignOnSanDiego.com has a great article on the May 4, 2011 Wounded Warriors’ bike ride. The Wounded Warriors’ ride, which stared in 2004 as a fundraiser for wounded troops, is going strong if President Obama’s participation is any indication. Not only was Obama on hand for the start of the race, he also called the riders–many of whom were former service members missing limbs–an inspiration.

Bicyclist Helps Wounded Marines
Competitive bicyclist Jim Penseyres, has been sharing both his considerable expertise and also his considerable love of bicycling with injured soldiers as of late.
A former marine himself, Penseyres has been organizing rides with Marines at Camp Pendleton to help today’s veterans deal with the “anguish and frustration” of war and its consequences. Although he admits he was perceived as “a grandpa” among the younger soldiers at first, he eventually won friendships and has been working and riding with a group of regulars since then.
