First Flight in Race Across America (RAAM) Takes Off!

Four women set off of the Oceanside pier yesterday at noon on to start their brutal solo trek to Annapolis, Maryland.

These four women were the first of almost 190 competitors in the 2009 RAAM. The race has three staggered starts to minimize congestion on the course, but all of the flights leave from the Oceanside pier in Oceanside, California.
