A woman, who was crossing a road in Eastern France at the wrong time, was killed on July 18th when a police motorcycle struck her. The motorcycle, which was escorting bicyclists in the Tour de France, skidded after the collision, injuring two other spectators.
The woman, 61 years old, was treated at the scene before emergency staff workers arrived, but to no avail.
The circumstances, while unfortunate, aren’t being investigated further as it was determined that “he was unable to avoid the woman.”
A few other spectators have died during the TDF over the years, but not since 2002.
